Lumbar Puncture: Question: We are considering a clinical trial in Monterey, Mexico, that utilizes a lumbar puncture method to deliver A-ASC to the cerebrospinal fluid. Is this safe? Answer: Upon review of the clinical trial, we believe this to be a safe method. This trial utilizes a bone marrow concentrate and not isolated or culture expanded stem cells. This bone marrow concentrate does have stem cells in a mixture of other cells. This bone marrow prep is called BMAC which is short for Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate. The delivery method looks credible to treat problems in the brain. The risk of using the patient's own BMAC is likely low. |
